In the last few months, I have read many letters to this newspaper from town residents who distrust our current Fountain Hills town council. The spending decisions of the town council seem to have provoked the animus of these residents the most.

I am among the residents who have not agreed with recent town council spending decisions. But many recent resident letters are now concerned about the primary property tax being proposed. Their new concern: Will the town council spend this possible new revenue unwisely, too?

With all this debate on the primary property tax, my number one concern is to safeguard my property value. Should the primary property tax not pass, I believe my home value will drop due to these future town problems: a lack of proper street maintenance; poor upkeep of our lovely public parks; and inferior (or non-existent) repairs to our public buildings. These are just a few of the many things that will be impacted should the primary property tax not pass. Please do not let these things happen to our outstanding community!

As a homeowner since 2005, I want our community to continue to be the wonderful, beautiful small town it has always been, with a superior quality of life. I am not going to permit my lack of faith in our current town council sabotage my town’s financial needs for the future.

This weekend, I plan to review the “Information Pamphlet and Sample Ballot” I received in the mail recently covering all the primary property tax ballot information. If you haven’t received your pamphlet yet, you can call the town clerk’s office at 480-816-5115. Then, please, “save our town” by joining me in voting yes for the primary property tax.
