My wife and I will support the primary property tax, though with some misgivings. We’ve studied the figures and we don’t see a better way.

We want the town to be well maintained and to be able to continue providing the amenities that drew us here to live. We don’t believe there should be further cuts in town staff or services, and we want to see the staff paid well.

Our misgivings center on the fact that the tax can be raised without voter approval and concerns that the town council will spend the money in boneheaded ways. The solution to both will be to keep a sharp eye on who’s running the town.
