Probably, like most town residents, I had never heard of an election for the Fountain Hills Sanitary Board.

I always believed that all the board members were interviewed and appointed to the board. Several months ago I read an article in The Times that there was a scheduled election for two board openings, and if there were not enough candidates the election would be cancelled.

Every member on the current Sanitary board has been appointed and reappointed by their friends and neighbors that are presently already on the board.

I was a sworn police officer on the Chicago Police Department for 35 years and rose to the rank of Lieutenant. My wife and I owned and operated four successful retail businesses, employing over 75 people. I have a Business Degree with a major in accounting, and a Master of Science Degree in Social Criminal Justice. I served on the Public Safety Commission of Fountain Hills for six years. I have been a member of Four Peaks Rotary since 2004.

Mr. Reski and Mr. Dudash continue to overstate their qualifications. Mr. Dudash was appointed (never elected) to the board. He did work at a water reclamation district, but he worked in the Human Resources division. That position had nothing to do with managing a waste water company. Mr. Reski has been on the board since 2002 and has never been employed in any capacity in a waste water company.

This year over 14 percent of our real estate taxes will go to the Sanitary District, along with the high fees assessed by the Board and paid by every homeowner and business in Fountain Hills. These fees are voted on by our five current, unelected board members.

I believe change is good and I am asking for your support and vote.
