Surprise connection to Charlie Kirk murder brings mourners to vigil

About 75 people meet in Surprise to pray for his kids, wife, her parents

Surprise residents are feeling the impact of Republican influencer Charlie Kirk’s murder on Wednesday like many across the country, but the tragedy is especially hitting home because of the city’s connection to it.

The parents of Kirk’s widow, Erika, own a home in Surprise, which made it meaningful when dozens of mourners gathered to pray for the family Sept. 11 outside the Surprise Public Safety Administration building.

On what was a day normally reserved for remembering the people lost during the terrorist attacks on the U.S. in 2001, about 75 people attended the vigil to pray for the country’s political divisiveness as well.
