Sitting on the curb of Commonwealth and Lexington Avenues, my brother and I grew up offering small cups of water to the marathon runners.

Our city of Boston was awash with the vibrance and exuberance of the world renowned Boston Marathon.

On April 15, we experienced our 9/11; thousands of lives were shattered and changed forever.

Yet, on the other side of the country in my now new home of the town of Fountain Hills, hundreds of flags remain at half-mast.

Thank you for reinforcing my belief in the resilience of the human spirit.
