The Shea business corridor continues to evolve as the long-standing Taco Bell fast-food eatery near the Beeline Highway has closed its doors. Equipment was being moved out of the facility Wednesday afternoon. The franchisee did not renew the lease, saying business was too slow. The restaurant has been operating there for many years, ever since the small plaza was developed.
It was also announced by Walgreens that the Fountain Hills store at Shea and Technology would be closing on May 7. It is one of 76 stores to be closed by the corporation nationwide. It employs about a dozen people, and they will be moving to the other Fountain Hills store or others nearby.

StatClinix, an urgent care clinic that has operated for five years, is closing Saturday, April 19. Business has been slow, an employee said. The business has been the sole occupant for a number of years in a commercial retail complex, Firebrick Plaza, 17225 E. Shea Blvd., between Saguaro Boulevard and the Beeline Highway.
Denny's is currently closed for remodeling, but the popular restaurant at Saguaro and Shea boulevards is scheduled to re-open Tuesday, April 15.
