I see most of the candidates now making promises as to what they will do if elected governor of Arizona are capable of shooting off their mouth about things which they have no chance of changing.

They must think the voters of Arizona are idiots who will believe anything they promise. Example: “I will seal the border from illegal immigration.” Do they plan to make all immigration legal, thus no more illegals crossing? With the present crooks in the federal administration and the do-nothing Arizona delegation to the puzzle palace, they will find their hands tied.

Another favorite: “No more citizenship for those who enter illegally.” Who do they think they are kidding? With the present judges in their ivory towers, a governor has no control. State government has been rendered useless except for the office holders taking care of themselves. Case in point, the recent increases given to themselves by the State Retirement Board’s investment committee. Some $80,000 paid to themselves and, although illegally done and future payments cancelled, no attempt by the state to make them pay their ill- gotten gains back.

One final item. Why does the above investment committee continue to retain an employee who is paid $200,000/year plus bonus after that employee issued sexual remarks so gross that the female target of his remarks left her position? Yet this guy gets his job extended, with promised increases, for years in the future.

I urge all to read the papers and consider all the actions of government. If we cannot control our state and local governments, we surely cannot change the federal government.
