When we purchased our lot in the early to mid- 1980s the wash our property backed on to was privately owned.
Ten years later the Town of Fountain Hills accepted ownership of the wash. Shortly thereafter, the town notified the taxation group in the county and the wash was designated a Preserve.
Thanks to this decision by the town, we now pay an additional 5 percent real estate taxes. This should apply to all lot/homeowners throughout the town, however, the county records leave a lot to be desired.

Since this is the case we will not be paying the town another fee for something we are already being taxed on. The rest of those backing up to the wash/preserve should also consider this double taxation for the same item. The Town Council created this problem.
A rose by any other name is still a rose. A tax by any other name is still a tax.
