Tea Party

Many years before John Adams became president, he wrote, “Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have a right, from the frame of their nature, to knowledge as their great Creator, who does nothing in vain, has given them understandings, and a desire to know...Let us dare to read, think, speak, and write.”

Education was recognized by the Founders as important then and remains so to this day. When we speak of public education, much of the discussion revolves around financing and what kind of return we receive for our tax dollars. As evidenced by Washington, D.C. and many other cities, more money doesn’t mean better outcomes, but better outcomes do depend in part upon adequate funding.

Fountain Hills AZ Tea Party will meet on Thursday evening, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. to address the topic of public education. Diane Douglas, AZ Superintendent of Public Instruction, will provide information from the perspective of the entire state. Dr. Patrick Sweeney, superintendent of Fountain Hills Unified School District, will provide the local perspective. Both guests will also take questions.

Since October 2010, Fountain Hills AZ Tea Party has provided you with convenient local access to elected officials and other authorities on important current issues, policies and government. The meeting will be held at the Fountain Hills Unified School District Learning Center (Northeast corner of Golden Eagle and Palisades).

As always, all interested parties are welcome to attend the meeting and participate. Admission is still free, but donations to cover expenses are gratefully accepted and appreciated. Come, listen, learn, ask, bring a friend. We hope to see you there! For more info, visit fhteaparty.us.
