Matthew Schmidt is not a typical teenager. Standing before a group of people old enough to be his grandparents or even great grandparents, he holds their attention as he describes historical events much closer to their lifetime than his.
Schmidt, 13 years old and in the eighth grade at Scottsdale Prep, has developed a history presentation covering World War I, World War II and the geopolitical upheavals of the intervening years between the wars.
He has presented before to veterans like Bruce Frobes and Ben Budsowski, and they invited him to present before residents at Fountain View Village Nov. 4.
