Tennis courts

(Editor’s Note: This letter was originally sent to the Town Council.)

On behalf of “The Tennis Gang” of Fountain Hills, we would like to extend our full support behind the efforts endorsed by you in pursuit of a grant to reconstruct the tennis courts at Golden Eagle and Four Peaks.

We, as players, are very well aware of the poor, at best, conditions of the courts. Our group plays regularly four mornings a week, regardless of the temperatures, hot or cold.

Unfortunately, your efforts to keep the courts in good playing condition are not able to keep pace with the deterioration caused by heat and rains. We greatly appreciate all that you are doing for all tennis players residing in Fountain Hills.

The tennis courts have been a special benefit for the Fountain Hills High School tennis team. Without these courts the school would be unable to offer tennis as a competitive team sport. The courts are a good advertisement for our town as teams from all over the state come to compete here.

Tennis is a sport for all ages, as evidenced by the ages of those in our group, “The Tennis Gang,” with active players in their 90s. We welcome new members to our group always and thank you for your efforts.
