Thanksgiving

Gratitude to the many folks who helped on Nov. 26 for, the Fountain Hills Thanksgiving Community Dinner.

Recognition goes to our Mayor, Linda Kavanaugh, and her secretary, Nancy. In a meeting one week before Thanksgiving, she listened to the idea for a community dinner for our entire community; everyone. She suggested several places that could be used, although last minute.

Yet, there was not enough time to get the notice in the paper.

Mayor Kavanagh has a wonderful gift for humanity, caring; about all people in our community.

Thanks to Pastor Todd Forrest at the Fountain Hills Christian Center for the use of their church kitchen as the venue. Thank you to his Board, who approved. Also, Jackie Gamble, our number one kitchen person. Stanley Hardwick, one of his hardworking congregants, helped set up.

Honorable mention:

Minster Justin Erickson at Harvest Bible.

Scottsdale Community College Chef Tack Kang, assisted in putting food together, creating a lovely presentation. Further by storing the food properly; leftover food could be distributed on Monday after Thanksgiving.

Transported on Monday to the Ozanam House, a home for the homeless in downtown Phoenix, thru St. Vincent de Paul's, Mike Bell over the Ozanam house. Leftovers fed 50 folks.

Also, Julie of St Vincent’s, Chandler.

Discounts from Basha’s; Rob Johnson, Ken Fett and the deli lady, Michelle.

Trader Joe’s of Scottsdale for flowers for the tables.

Cost covered by Paul’s Ace Hardware; Julie Bushaowski owner/president and Carol Michaels, vice president of operations.

Side dishes were donated by Extended Hands Food Bank; Pastor Iverson. Judy Knopp helped to organize.

Juan Gonzales of Senior Taco; tamales.

Next year, all the religious organizations can come together to fellowship, eat and enjoy our diversity, right here in our own community.

All things are possible for one who believes.
