Thanksgiving Day Parade has Southwestern theme
Posted
The weather may still feel like summer but the Chamber of Commerce is already thinking about the Thanksgiving Day parade.
The theme will be “Winter in the Southwest.” Registration begins online Monday, Oct. 2.
The parade will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov.23, and will last about one hour.
The Chamber has hosted the annual “Parada de Los Cerros” on Thanksgiving Day for 33 years. The parade has earned the distinction as being the only Thanksgiving Day parade in Arizona.
Around 80 entries are expected in categories from civic and business floats, church and children entries, marching and walking groups, motorized entries and equestrians. Santa also is at the end of the floats and marchers.
Prizes are awarded for the best presentations in several categories.
The route begins near El Lago and Saguaro boulevards, then continues north along Saguaro, west on Palisades Boulevard and ends at LaMontana Drive and Parkview Ave.
Registration for Chamber members is free. Corporate sponsors are the Town of Fountain Hills, Brokers Alliance, Euro Pizza Cafe, SRP, Republic Services and Cruise Planners.
Oct. 23 is the registration deadline. For more information, contact Paige Lorentzen, events and marketing coordinator, at 837-1654, ext. 232.
