There’s a new restaurant in town. That’s nothing new...restaurants in this community come and go with distressing regularity. But I have high hopes for this one. It’s called Moxie, located in the site of the former Kimmie’s at Saguaro Blvd and Parkview.
Its guiding force is Town Council member Cecil Yates.
We were there for dinner at its grand opening a few days ago. It’s not elegant and, likewise, it’s not expensive. Cecil might disagree, but I would describe it as a “beer and burgers” style of dining.

Several of our party had their burgers and all thought they were excellent! I had a barbecued beef sandwich and would happily order it again.
Several years ago I tried to pin down the best hamburger in Fountain Hills. Alas, the restaurant that produced my choice is long gone. If the search for the best hamburger in town were conducted today, then based on the comments of our party, the burger at Moxie would deserve serious consideration.
The other items on the menu were likewise tasty. The ambience is pleasant and the service was just fine. In short, we enjoyed the place.
Cecil and I may have to have a serious discussion of his wine list but, as one member of our party pointed out, most of the people in this community aren’t as much of a wine snob as I am. So, depending on your taste, the Moxie wine list might be just right.
Anyway, welcome to Fountain Hills, Moxie. And thank you, Cecil Yates, for once again trying to turn that site into a viable restaurant. Good luck.
