The Fountain Hills council is not working in the best interest of town staff or voters

At an upcoming town council meeting, there will be a discussion, and no doubt a vote to lift the sanctions on Councilman Skillicorn. The sanctions were levied because of serious infractions, committed by him, to the town’s ethics code, including harassing a town employee for doing his job.

I won’t waste my words repeating the details. It’s easy to look up. Despite what some say, the sanctions weren’t a political hit. It was reached after careful thought. It was painful, I’m sure, to impose this on a peer, but it was done to protect town employees from unethical actions of a councilmember.

Town council members are elected civil servants who work for us, representing our thoughts, opinions and vision. Their actions are meant to represent the citizens of the town, and not personal interests. I don’t think anyone in the town could argue against the fact the rights of town employees need to be protected and respected.
