The Fountains UMC in Fountain Hills will join thousands of people around the world in celebrating the 16th annual World Labyrinth Day as a moving meditation for peace and celebration of the labyrinth experience Saturday, May 4.
Those familiar with labyrinths or new to the idea of non-maze labyrinth paths are welcome to learn more and take part in a serene journey through the labyrinth at The Fountains UMC campus, 15300 Fountain Hills Blvd. The event is from 9 to 10 a.m.
Experience the tranquility and introspection on this labyrinth walk which will commence with a brief introduction to the labyrinth’s rich history, along with tips on how to enhance the experience, according to a press release.
The labyrinth walk itself will last approximately 20 minutes, allowing ample time for reflection and contemplation.
Following the walk, there is an opportunity to share insights and experiences with fellow participants.
For those who prefer a more intimate setting, virtual labyrinth walks are conducted indoors at The Fountains Connection Center, adjacent to the labyrinth.
These seated walks facilitated with paper and pen offer a comfortable alternative to the outdoor experience.
What is World Labyrinth Day?
World Labyrinth Day is an international event held the first Saturday of each May where people around the world participate in a moving meditation for world peace and celebration of the labyrinth experience.
The event is sponsored by The Labyrinth Society in collaboration with partner organizations including the Australian Labyrinth Network, Legacy Labyrinth Project, and Veriditas.
The first World Labyrinth Day was celebrated in 2009 and included events in New Zealand, Hong Kong, the United States and many other locations.
The Labyrinth Society Global Group on Facebook, created in tandem with World Labyrinth Day, has since grown to over 15,000 members from 100 different countries, with steady use throughout the year and a peak in activity every year around World Labyrinth Day.
The Labyrinth Society is a U.S.-based international nonprofit organization founded in 1998 whose mission is to support all those who create, maintain and use labyrinths and to serve the global community by providing education, networking and opportunities to experience transformation.
