As a philosophically political conservative, you would think I should be cheering because Liberalism has died. However, quite to the contrary, I am saddened by that fact.

What astounds me is that the Democratic Party, in a desperate attempt to regain relevance, has abandoned Liberalism and is embracing the Leftist ideology. They are promoting and supporting activist unrest and rioting on our university campuses along with a strong Leftist agenda and its divisive rhetoric.

Liberalism has been swallowed up, obliterated and replaced by the Leftist ideology. I’m saddened because I truly believe there is a huge difference between the two.

Liberals could listen and discuss other points of view while Leftists shout down and angrily silence any dissent. Liberals believed in individuality while Leftists believe in conformity of thought, language and actions; departure means exile from the group. Liberals believed in universal truths, Leftists believe in selective truth that must fit their narrative or be labeled evil.

Liberals saw the media as means of objective reporting and opinion; Leftists see the role of media as a means of indoctrination for Leftist propaganda. Liberals saw the universities as a place to gain critical thinking skills and embrace differing ideas and philosophies; Leftists see the universities as a tool for instruction of Leftism. Liberals discuss and defend their positions with logic; Leftists argue by name-calling, bullying and demonizing.

Just watch and listen to the voice of the “Left” media, “Left” politicians and “Left” educational institutions and ask yourself if they are espousing a Liberal ideology or a Leftist ideology. I believe there is a huge difference between the two and unless Democrats recognize those differences and begin to bend the curve back to center, they are headed down a dangerous path.
