The lordship of Fountain Hills

OPINION — Once upon a time, this town was filled with good people, familiar faces and the comfort of shared community. It was not perfect, but we strived to be happy in this beautiful place for a very long time. Then Friedel, Watts, Earle and a new town magistrate rose to lordships, and a different decorum settled. There were grand words, and strange celebrations. Townsfolk began to wonder what kind of reign had truly begun.

The table of the chroniclers was swept aside. New rules followed. One language was favored, though the townsfolk spoke only one language in the great hall and public squares. In the great hall, certain ideals were no longer found welcome, and declarations of awards seemed to drift toward those who favored the new lordships. A shaman from another town was even allowed to speak at the beginning of their reign. The new ROT guards became more vocal and influential.

Still, one voice did not fall silent. Brenda Kalivianakis spoke with courage, even after the ROT guards constantly mocked her with impunity. Through the noise, Brenda met all of that  impunity with her bravery.
