The mayor’s promises versus actions in Fountain Hills

OPINION – I've watched for a year our town council, fraught with controversy, discourse and argument under Mayor Friedel. When the Friedel administration began (Dec. 2024), it was based upon his campaign promise (a nine-point plan) that “advocates for open Town meetings” while contending his opponent “favors closed-door meetings.” Furthermore, he made a 100-day pledge to “Promote Government Transparency.”

He even promised he would not have closed-door meetings to discuss items that impact residents or their wallets.

But since he took office last December, here are just five well-documented examples of how well Friedel's really doing:
