Well, by the time you read this, hopefully the sun will be out and we’ll be having warm temperatures and blue skies again.
They said the Super Bowl parties alone attracted one million people to the Valley. It’s too bad they weren’t exposed to better weather.
You might know that the high temperatures would be in the 50s with cloudy skies Thursday, Friday and Saturday after highs in the mid-70s the week prior. And the forecast for this week is calling for more mid to high 70 readings and as high as 80 by the weekend.

It figures.
At least it was a good rain, slow and steady. We had .80 inches at the office for the three days.
And the rain didn’t affect the crowds much for the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament in Scottsdale. They had record crowds despite the all-day rain on Friday and part of Saturday. At least we had the sunny day on Sunday (after the fog lifted) to show why this is the “Valley of the Sun” on national TV for the golf tournament final round and the Super Bowl.
Diane came home last Thursday after spending two weeks in New Jersey helping daughter Tammy. She was recovering from hernia surgery (the doctor said she couldn’t lift anything for two weeks) and “Gramma” was there to help out with Tammy’s four children. They range in age from one year to six years old.
Diane said she doesn’t know how Tammy does it week in and week out. She enjoyed seeing the kids and truly bonding with them. She did admit she was glad to be back home and get some rest.
That rest lasted maybe a day as she (a high energy person) started cleaning the garage on Saturday.
She said it was quite cold in New Jersey. On the Sunday before she left, Tammy and her husband, Brandon, started out going to church. They turned the corner and got up to the top of the hill, but then they saw as many as 10 cars off the side of the road because of ice on the pavement. They quickly decided to go back home.
They woke up to five inches of snow on the second Saturday Diane was there. They were predicting an all-time record snowfall last Monday, but they only got another three inches at Tammy’s house.
The kids got to stay home from school so she got some good pictures of them playing in the snow.
With Diane gone for a two-week period, daughter Toni who lives in Las Vegas, came down to stay with me.
Of course that meant she also brought her son, Camden. That gave me time to bond with my newest grandson. He’ll be a year old on Feb. 18.
At that age, you see lots of changes if you don’t see them for any length of time. We last saw him on Christmas.
In that month he has learned to crawl and goes everywhere he can in the house with his walker.
As most of you know, he is the baby born last year with a congenital heart defect, requiring major surgery when he was four months old.
Apart from a feeding tube that is on the right side of his abdomen, you’d never know there had been anything wrong with him. He still has those big blue eyes and smiles at everyone he meets.
