OPINION — I am compelled to add some clarity via public record to The Times’ article posted May 1, as it relates to the Fountain Hills mayoral candidate forum.
While Kalivianakis attempted to lay the blame for “blowing the opportunity” of Park Place II and III at Mayor Friedel’s feet, as implied at the forum, I implore Kalivianakis, The Times and anyone else interested in the truth to look back at the Nov. 18, 2025, Town Council public record, the Times article dated Dec. 9, 2025, and council’s vote on the subject.
Mayor Friedel is the only person to vote in favor of a six-month extension for the developers to finalize their financing. One could assume that property would be well under construction by now otherwise.
