Our school and town officials, coupled with experts from Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, have gone over various scenarios and planned for emergencies. They are ready to respond should the need ever arise.
However, school security entails more than just planning and personnel. It takes physical security enhancements. Many of these enhancements have already been added to our facilities, but more are needed.

It is an unfortunate reality facing school administrators and school boards today – planning for security enhancements and readying school facilities for the worst possible scenarios.
Our school and town officials, coupled with experts from Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, have gone over various scenarios and planned for emergencies. They are ready to respond should the need ever arise.
However, school security entails more than just planning and personnel. It takes physical security enhancements. Many of these enhancements have already been added to our facilities, but more are needed.
Dr. Cain Jagodzinski, our school superintendent, did his Ph. D. dissertation on school security. He knows what needs to be done. Other school shootings have provided new information for authorities to study in what improvements are needed to prevent additional tragedies.
Approximately 12% of the proposed $25 million bond package is being earmarked for security enhancements and fire protection. Does that sound like a waste of taxpayer money? Does that sound like something that should be postponed? Does that sound like a “want?”
Of course not.
Let’s get behind our “new and improved” FHUSD and pass the bond package. These enhancements are crucial to keep our children safe.
