Fountain Hills Theater will stage two Christmas shows starting Nov. 30.

A Christmas Carol: The Musical, the popular musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale will play in repertory with the hilarious Inspecting Carol, appropriately about a small theater that mounts the Dickens classic year after year.

A Christmas Carol will play Nov. 30, Dec. 2, 8, 10, 14, 16, 22 and 24. Inspecting Carol’sdates are Dec. 1, 3, 7, 9, 15, 17, 21 and 23. Inspecting Carol will feature cast members of A Christmas Carol performing in repertory.

A Christmas Carol: The Musical is a Fountain Hills favorite. With a new musical adaptation by the theater’s Artistic Director Peter J. Hill, Scrooge’s story of redemption remains as powerful and uplifting as ever.

Inspecting Carol is described as A Christmas Carol meets The Government meets Noises Off. Threatened with lost government funding, a s mall theater mistakes a talentless actor for an informer for the National Endowment for the Arts. Everyone caters to the wannabe actor, and he is given a role in the annual production of A Christmas Carol. When the Dickens sickened actors try to make A Christmas Carol into a politically correct, socially conscious production, everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

“We’re very excited to be presenting our first repertory production,” said Artistic Director Peter J. Hill. “It’s a lot of work and the logistics are just crazy, but what a challenge.

“Members of the cast of A Christmas Carol play the same or similar roles in Inspecting Carol. Many of our cast members have been a part of our annual Christmas Carol tradition for years, so tapping into the frustration of the company of actors presenting yet another year of the Dickens story in Inspecting Carol is natural. Plus, Inspecting Carol will be great fun for audience members who’ve seen A Christmas Carol just once too often. Better still though is to see both shows and delight in the inside jokes and fun.”

Both productions are produced by Bob and Alisa Feugate Hill and Noel Irick direct. A Christmas Carol features musical direction by Jay Melberg and choreography by Noel Irick.

Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. Sundays.

Tickets for A Christmas Carol are $30 for adults and $23 for children 17 and younger. Inspecting Carol tickets are $25 for adults and $18 for children. Purchasing tickets for both shows is $45 for adults and $35 for youth.

All performances are at Fountain Hills Theater at 11445 N. Saguaro Blvd. Tickets are available through the Theater Box Office at 480-837-9661, x3 and online at fhtaz.org. Box Office hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
