The Fountain Hills Theater has released its full schedule for the upcoming year on its various stages.

Mainstage

“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” Sept. 13-Oct. 6.

A non-stop laugh-fest in which Pseudolus, a crafty slave, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan named Philia for his young master, Hero, in exchange for freedom. The plot twists and turns with cases of mistaken identity, slamming doors, and a showgirl or two.

“Sherlock’s Last Case” Oct. 25-Nov. 10.

Elementary? Not so fast! Part spoof, part loving tribute and all fun. The plot involves a mysterious woman, references to the treacherous Professor Moriarity, and several twists and turns that keep the audience guessing.

“God of Carnage” Jan. 10-26.

A comedy of manners …without the manners. A playground altercation between 11-year-old boys brings together two sets of Brooklyn parents for a meeting to resolve the matter. At first, diplomatic niceties are observed, but as the meeting progresses, and the rum flows, tensions emerge and the gloves come off, leaving the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters.

“Monty Python’s Spamalot” Feb. 21-March 16.

The legendary tale of King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table, as well as showgirls, killer rabbits and French people! Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

“The Man Who Came to Dinner” April 4-20.

While on a lecture tour, Sheridan Whiteside slips on the ice outside his hosts’ home and until his broken leg heals, they’re forced to put him up and put up with him. This means enduring an unending stream of Whiteside's whims, caprices and vitriolic bon mots, as well as his long-distance phone calls and eccentric guests.

“9 to 5” May 16-June 8.

Based on the 1980 hit movie. Pushed to the boiling point, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. They conspire to take control of their company and learn there’s nothing they can’t do -- even in a man’s world!

Mainstage Too

“Epic Proportions” Oct. 4-20.

An epic of miniature proportions set in the 1930s. Brothers Phil and Benny go to the Arizona desert to be extras in a huge Biblical epic film. They encounter romance, danger and a supporting cast of thousands played by an intrepid cast of four.

“A Christmas Carol, The Musical” Nov. 29-Dec. 22.

The theater has taken the spirit of the season, wrapped it in beautiful original melodies and tied it with all the holiday magic and wonder of your childhood.

FHT is proud to present a new musical adaptation, ‘A Christmas Carol,’ based on the Charles Dickens classic.

It tells the tale of curmudgeonly miser Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by the ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Future hoping to change his destiny and save his soul.

“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” Jan. 31-Feb. 16.

This celebration of the mating game takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum known as “the relationship.”

Act I explores the journey from dating and waiting to love and marriage, while Act II reveals the agonies and triumphs of in-laws and newborns, trips in the family car and pick-up techniques of the geriatric set.

“Broadway Jukebox” April 25– May 11.

The neon lights are bright! Audiences select songs from the giant Broadway Jukebox and a multi-talented cast creates a never-before-seen musical revue.

Youth Theater

“Godspell Junior” Aug. 23-Sept. 8.

Based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score, “Godspell Jr.” boasts a string of well-loved songs, led by the international hit, “Day By Day.” As the cast performs various songs, the biblical parables come to life.

Drawing from various theatrical traditions, such as clowning, pantomime, charades, acrobatics and vaudeville, “Godspell Jr.” has a unique message.

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever!” Dec. 6-22.

In this hilarious Christmas tale, a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant is faced with casting the Herdman kids -- probably the most inventively awful kids in history. You won't believe the mayhem-- and the fun-- when the Herdmans collide with the Christmas story head on.

“Disney’s Winnie the Pooh, Kids” Jan. 17-26.

Disney’s “Winnie the Pooh, Kids” is a new show based on the beloved characters of A.A. Milne and the 2011 Disney animated feature film.

This delightful play welcomes audiences to the Hundred Acre Wood, where Winnie the Pooh is once again in search of honey. Along the way, he meets his pals Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit, and Owl, but soon discovers that Christopher Robin has been captured by the Backson. As they prepare for a rescue operation, the animals learn about teamwork, friendship, and sharing snacks.

“The Somewhat True Story of Robin Hood” March 14-30.

It sure is hard to be humble when you’re a swashbuckling, egocentric super-hero. But our gallant guy-in-green tries his best as he swaggers through The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, a frantically funny, Monty Pythonesque retelling of the classic tale.

“The Little Princess: Sara Crewe” June 6-22.

To Sara Crewe, everyone at Miss Minchin’s Select Seminary for Young Ladies is a story: cold Miss Minchin; her timid sister, Miss Amelia; pupils such as spiteful Lavinia or plodding Ermengarde; as well as the invalid gentleman next door and his lascar. Imagination and personal conviction sustain Sara when, orphaned and no longer a “parlor boarder,” she is banished to the attic. Becky, the little scullery maid, becomes her fast friend. Suddenly, Sara’s bleak garret is mysteriously transformed by a secret benefactor. When Sara finally learns who has cared for her, Miss Minchin gets her just reward.
