Movie in the Park
The Town of Fountain Hills invites the public to attend the autumn Movie in the Park event from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Four Peaks Park.
The free movie is displayed on a 40-foot outdoor screen and features Lilo & Stitch, which runs approximately 1-hour and 42-minutes beginning at sundown.
Lilo & Stitch is about a lonely Hawaiian girl who befriends a runaway alien, helping to mend her fragmented family.
Don’t forget to bring a blanket or chairs for comfortable viewing. Movie snacks are available for purchase.
Harvest moon walk
Join Night Sky Tourist for guided experiences to connect with the seasonal rhythms of nature and the night sky.
Ancient cultures recognized these same patterns to mark time and celebrate the changing seasons, and this is an opportunity to witness them against the dramatic backdrop of Four Peaks and the Sonoran Desert.
These events blend hiking, astronomy and the rich heritage of desert sky watching. The Fall Harvest Moon Walk begins at 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 6. Visit NightSkyTourist.com for tickets and additional information.
Observe the moon
Night Sky Tourist is also the host for International Observe the Moon Night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Four Peaks Park.
Visitors will see the Moon’s craters and ancient lava flows up close through powerful telescopes at Observe the Moon Night with presentation by Ted Blank, NASA Solar System Ambassador.
Receive fascinating lunar insights plus hands-on demonstrations perfect for curious kids and adults. This is part of a global celebration as sky watchers worldwide turn their eyes moonward on the same night.
This NASA-sponsored event is free and open to everyone. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair to relax and enjoy the lunar talk.
