Thomas: Concerning Skillicorn’s filings with the town

On May 18, 2023, Allen Skillicorn, who was less than six months into his term on the Town Council, filed a Committee Statement of Organization with the town. The statement indicates he is seeking the office of mayor in the 2024 election cycle.

The committee’s Campaign Finance Report for fourth quarter 2023 shows a balance of almost $6,000, after paying almost $2,500 in cash for postage. That transaction was with a business in Illinois rather than one in Fountain Hills.

Why did Mr. Skillicorn use a business in Illinois for that transaction instead of a business in Fountain Hills? Even if there was no business in Fountain Hills that could have provided the services Mr. Skillicorn needed, I have to think there is at least one printing company in the Phoenix area that could have met his requests, thus keeping his spending in our area.

Thomas: Concerning Skillicorn’s filings with the town

Why would Mr. Skillicorn use an out-of-state business? Given Mr. Skillicorn’s frequent proclamations about wanting Fountain Hills to be open for business and how he wants residents to support local businesses, it seems rather disingenuous to then spend almost $2,500 out of state. So, local businesses, next time you hear Mr. Skillicorn say he is pro-business, that should probably be taken with no more than a grain of salt.

When will Mr. Skillicorn announce his candidacy for the mayoral election in 2024?
