There are only three candidates running for town council who overwhelmingly opposed the tax initiative; they are Gerry Friedel, David Spelich and Marcus Bulow von Dennewitz. These candidates believe in keeping taxes low in our community to attract future residents, keeping the current residents within their budget, and they have great ideas for better budgeting and generating finances as opposed to raising taxes. They bring to the council decades of financial experience.

In reading candidate Mike Scharnow’s answer to question #3 in last week’s edition, I can’t help but wonder why he would think running as a slate is not a positive thing. Is he not a team player who wants the best for our town? Why didn't he answer the actual question? Doesn’t he realize that we need team players?

Please check the website for meet and greet dates and come hear these three candidates, I believe you will agree that we need a positive change on the dais and these three candidates are the answer.
Cecil Yates is by far the better choice for mayor. He did a great job in the first debate. He spoke from the heart, not from pre-written statements, and he has far greater knowledge of our town and the he agrees that listening to the voters will be a priority.
I think Ginny Dickey needs to be more spontaneous and leave the notes at home. That’s not what we’re looking for in our next mayor. Cecil Yates for mayor!
