It’s a small but mighty group – the Golden Eagle Education Foundation.

Its official website describes it as such: “The Golden Eagle Education Foundation (GEEF) is a non-profit partnership of parents, students, business members and other supportive residents, who are committed to enhancing the education of students from Fountain Hills, the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and the Verde River communities through scholarships, mentoring, innovative classroom projects and recognition of teachers and staff.”

One need only to attend the annual Senior Recognition Night to see the mighty work this hard-working group does. Although it does much more than this, the group is more or less a clearinghouse for businesses, individuals and other organizations who want to donate money for a scholarship or other valuable educational endeavor.

GEEF volunteers pore through tons of applications as they select who will be granted the various scholarships on behalf of the contributors. The foundation also donates to various worthwhile classroom projects and helps with the Mentoring Program.

The GEEF, in one way or another, has positively touched thousands of local students over the decades. We applaud the work done by GEEF volunteers and urge the community to continue to get behind this worthwhile organization. Before we know it, summer will be over and GEEF will be hard at work for the new school year.
