Time to move on

Councilman Henry Leger was elected to look out for the residents’ best interests almost eight years ago. Now, he is seeking a third term. Do you really feel that he has served the best interests of the citizens?

Obviously many residents didn’t think so, which is why they tried to recall him two years ago. The people lost by a slim margin. Isn’t the writing on the wall for Councilman Leger?

Leger changes his demeanor to suit himself. Before the recall he was very arrogant and condescending. During the recall, he became more humble. After he won the recall, he reverted to his true arrogant persona.

Citizens had their reasons for attempting to recall Leger. He didn’t give the people a choice when it came to the decision about the one trash hauler. (Not that they are doing a bad job, but the point is people wanted to vote on it.) And he didn’t seem to care that a local hauler would be put out of business by his decision. But that’s typical of his attitude that he knows best without having to consult the people.

Leger is also not business friendly, proven by the fact that he voted against the sign ordinance. I hope our business community remembers that.

And what about the $29 million bond to fix Saguaro Blvd. that he proposed that would have cost the taxpayers a lot of money? Now we know that an $8.2 million bond with no added frills will fix the road just fine.

Leger also has a hard time making a decision. He would rather spend taxpayer money to hire consultants. That is not a trait of a good leader.

Henry Leger is out of touch with the people. Maybe eight years has taken its toll on him. It’s time for Leger to step aside.
