The Times earned eight awards at this Arizona event. The staff was recognized with third for the Community Guide in the Best Newspaper Supplement or Magazine category while taking home second for Best Public Notice Section, third for Best Special Section (Pets) and first for Best Classified Section. The Classified Section category was especially noteworthy, as combined consideration meant The Times was competing with publications at a higher division.
Duke Kirkendoll received third for the Best Newspaper Website category, with Publisher Brent Cruikshank earning second for Most Effective Use of Paid Small Space in advertising.
Reporter Bob Burns brought home third in the Best News Story category for his article, “Council fires legal team,” while Editor Ryan Winslett earned second in the Best Column, Feature or Criticism category for a column he wrote last fall, “May the force be with you.”
