Tonto facilities to re-open

Due to the recent resumption of federal government funding, Tonto National Forest officials anticipate that all recreation sites and administrative offices will be open by 8 a.m. Friday.

Marinas at Roosevelt, Apache, Canyon, Bartlett and Saguaro lakes are open for business as usual; for further information, contact the marinas directly.

“We are working quickly to recall staff and coordinate efforts to reopen all forest facilities, boat launches and developed recreational sites which were open previous to the shutdown,” stated Neil Bosworth, forest supervisor.

“We appreciate the public’s ongoing patience and support as we work to return all operations to normal. While most recreation areas will be re-opened today, we anticipate resuming all forest operations no later than tomorrow morning, including the re-opening of all district offices by 8 a.m.”

The following areas remained open during the shutdown and remain open:

 · Trails and dispersed recreation sites

· All commercial marinas (Apache Lake, Roosevelt Lake, Canyon Lake, Saguaro Lake, Bartlett Lake)
