Tonto Forest passes running low

The day use passes for the Tonto National Forest recreation areas may be a little scarce right now, but according to a spokesperson at the Tonto National Forest main Phoenix office there are some available.

There is a news report that the vendor that handles on-line sales for the passes is out of paper and cannot print anymore. They are expected to be out until August

However, the Ranger District offices still have the passes and many of the retail outlets that sell the passes still have some.

There is a news report that the vendor that handles on-line sales for the passes is out of paper and cannot print anymore. They are expected to be out until August

However, the Ranger District offices still have the passes and many of the retail outlets that sell the passes still have some.

There are six retail locations in the Fountain Hills area that sell the passes. Those include the two Circle K locations on Shea Boulevard near Saguaro, Four Sons store at Palisades and Fountain Hills boulevards, Safeway, Paul’s Ace Hardware and Baja Gas at Fort McDowell Road and the Beeline Highway.

Those interested may want to call one of the retailers to see whether they have the passes before starting out.

The Tonto day use passes are needed for outings at Needle Rock Recreation Area on the Verde River, Saguaro Lake as well as all of the Salt River lakes and the Salt River Phon D Sutton area as well as areas farther north in the forest.
