After attending college in California, Barry settled in Chicago and changed his name to his father’s, Barack Hussein Obama.

Obama became involved in Chicago politics and befriended Tony Rezko, who used $6.9 million in government subsidies to develop low income apartments, becoming a slumlord in the Illinois district Obama represented.
