The town is expected to
grant permits Oct. 16 for the annual Farmers’ Market and Art on the Avenue.
Proposals to operate the two events on the Avenue of the Fountains median were solicited by the Community Services Department. The deadline to submit bids was Sept. 11.
The anticipated agreement start date is Oct. 23.
The event for spectators is free. Vendors pay a fee to participate.
Corey Povar, recreation manager, said the prospective bidder could create their own fee schedule.
“Essentially, when they bid, they will say what they are going to do, how much they are going to charge their vendors, and how much they plan to pay the town to hold the market,” said Povar.
Arts manager Judi Yates said the application consisted of 30 pages.
She said she initially proposed the concept to “create foot traffic for downtown businesses and restaurants on Thursdays, a typically quiet day.”
Yates intends to participate again this year.
The Farmers Market coordinator has been Aaron Echlund.
