Fountain Hills Town Council has approved changes to the town’s policy and procedures regarding grant funding that comes through tribal gaming allotments known as Prop 202 funding.
In 2002, voters in Arizona approved a proposition that provided for gaming compacts with tribal communities within the state. A provision of that proposition was for tribes to return a portion of gaming revenues to surrounding communities in support of public safety, education and tourism.
Town of Fountain Hills Economic Development Director Amanda Jacobs told the council the town’s policies regarding how the grants are processed has not been updated since 2004, noting it is time to bring the policy in line with current practices.
