Town Council budget discussion next week

The town council will meet next week to discuss its proposed budget for the 2018/19 fiscal year. Meetings have been scheduled for Monday, April 23, and tentatively for Tuesday, April 24, if necessary.

The budget proposal calls for $18.1 million in general fund expenditures. That includes $8.1 million for public safety contracts with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and Rural/Metro. Community Services, which includes parks, recreation, senior services and the Community Center is budgeted at $2.5 million. Public Works is $1 million and Development Services is $1.4 million.

Administration has $2.8 million in the budget and $2 million for General Government. There is $300,000 for the municipal court.

The town council will meet next week to discuss its proposed budget for the 2018/19 fiscal year. Meetings have been scheduled for Monday, April 23, and tentatively for Tuesday, April 24, if necessary.

The budget proposal calls for $18.1 million in general fund expenditures. That includes $8.1 million for public safety contracts with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and Rural/Metro. Community Services, which includes parks, recreation, senior services and the Community Center is budgeted at $2.5 million. Public Works is $1 million and Development Services is $1.4 million.

Administration has $2.8 million in the budget and $2 million for General Government. There is $300,000 for the municipal court.

The budget plan includes $4.3 million for capital projects. That includes 57 percent for facilities projects, 25 percent for streets and sidewalks, 14 percent for parks and recreation, 2 percent for storm water and drainage work, 1 percent in the vehicle replacement program and 1 percent contingency.

The council has scheduled meetings to begin at 5 p.m. The Tuesday session will be held only if necessary to complete the discussion.

The sessions will be held in council chambers at Town Hall and are open to the public.
