The public is invited to attend a reception in the Town Hall lobby at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, to recognize the Town of Fountain Hills’ fourth international Sister City, Zamosc, Poland.

During the regular Town Council meeting that begins at 6:30 p.m., President and Director of the Fountain Hills Sister Cities Corp. Sharon Morgan will make a presentation on the recent trip to Zamosc by town officials to formalize the Sister City agreement.

The council will also take up the recommendation of Town Manager Ken Buchanan that Sheriff’s Capt. David Letourneau be accepted as the new commander for the Sheriff’s District 7 based in Fountain Hills.

Letourneau has been on the job in an interim basis for several weeks following the promotion of previous commander, now Deputy Chief Joe Rodriquez.

The council will also have a discussion with possible direction to staff regarding law enforcement priorities and communications with the Sheriff’s Office.

The council has an extensive consent agenda this week that includes an IGA for Prop 202 Funding from the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation. The proposed funding includes $49,000 for the Fountain Hills Unified School District, $10,000 for the Boys and Girls Club, $5,000 for the River of Time Museum and $3,044 for the Golden Eagle Foundation.

The council will also consider an IGA with the Maricopa County Flood Control District for Ashbrook Wash drainage improvements.

The council will also consider a cooperative purchasing agreement with Hoffman Southwest Corp. for $50,000 for storm drain structure cleaning and televising.

There is also consideration for the purchase of 12 portable radios for the Fountain Hills Fire Department for $108,309.

The Town Council meets Thursday, Sept. 4, at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
