Town council sunsets Sister Cities Advisory Commission

Independent corporation taking responsibilities

The Fountain Hills Town Council has voted unanimously to “sunset” its Sister Cities Advisory Commission, discontinuing the group as a town advisory entity.

Much of the work has been taken over by the independent Sister Cities Corporation and the advisory group is deemed no longer necessary.

In 1996, newly-elected Mayor Jerry Miles turned to Alan Cruikshank, owner and publisher of the Fountain Hills Times, and asked him to form a committee to look into developing an international Sister Cities relationship. Cruikshank had previously brought the idea to Miles before he was elected.
