Since the beginning of January numerous incidents have been reported to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office ranging from vehicle tires slashed, windows broken, Christmas Nativity scenes at churches burglarized and damages at the Community Garden site.

Mayor Linda Kavanagh and Councilman Art Tolis brought the suggestion to Town Manager Grady Miller that the town post a $1,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of anyone involved in these incidents.

Miller discussed the idea with MCSO Capt. Dave Letourneau, the Sheriff’s commander for District 7 based in Fountain Hills. Letourneau agreed the reward could motivate individuals who witnessed or have knowledge of the incidents to come forward.

Miller said in his staff report that the town is also working to identify potential security camera locations to cover the Civic Center and Centennial Plaza area.

The Town Council will meet Thursday, Feb. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
