Town Council updates design guidelines in Fountain Hills

Meets requirements of state law

The Fountain Hills Town Council voted unanimously to approve an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance that authorizes staff to review and approve design review plans.

The action was taken to meet the requirements of HB2447 passed by the Arizona State Legislature in July. That bill requires cities and towns to give staff authority to approve design review based on objective standards, without a public hearing.

The legislation is part of a broader effort to streamline the development review process and reduce barriers to housing and commercial development.
