Town financial report deemed 'clean'

The Town of Fountain Hills has received a “clean” opinion from auditors for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the 2017-18 fiscal year that ended in June.
Auditors from Heinfeld Meech & Co. gave a brief presentation on the report at the Oct. 16 Town Council meeting.
The opinion is “unmodified,” which is the best report standard according to auditors.
They found no issues with the accounting practices of the town and complimented staff for implementing new required disclosures in a timely manner.
Councilman Alan Magazine praised staff, also saying the town has received clean audit reports every year he has been on the council. He noted that was a contrast with what opponents were saying during the unsuccessful campaign for a primary property tax earlier this year.
The CAFRs dating back to the year 2000 are posted to the town website and the current one will be available soon for public review.
