Posted
The town will celebrate National Day of Prayer (NDOP) tomorrow, Thursday, May 5, at Fountain Park amphitheater.
This year is the 65th annual National Day of Prayer program.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. Guests are invited to enjoy complimentary food from 5 to 5:45 p.m. The Fountain Hills Noon Kiwanis Club will prepare and serve hot dogs, beverages and desserts.
The NDOP theme is “Wake up America,” emphasizing the need for people, together and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities and men.
The scripture is Isaiah 58:1a, “Shout it aloud, do not hold back, raise your voice like a trumpet.”
Pastor Don Lawrence of Christ’s Church will be the keynote speaker.
Community representatives will present prayers to focus on seven areas: government, military, media, business, education, church, and family.
Boy Scout Troop 343 will serve as color guard and lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mrs. Susan Bovinette’s second grade class at McDowell Mountain Elementary School will recite the Preamble to the Constitution and the Gettysburg Address.
Combined Ministerial Association church choirs will sing “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” The Christ’s Church Praise Team will provide musical entertainment.
Everyone is encouraged to bring a chair or a blanket and be united in prayer.
The Fountain Hills Christian Ministerial Association is sponsoring the program. Representatives from churches in the community organized the event.
