Town offers fall sports

The Town of Fountain Hills Community Services continues to provide opportunities for residents to get out and get active with various programs scheduled for the coming weeks.

Tennis

Community Services is offering a large number of tennis courses starting in October, perfect for any age group or skill level.

Courses range between $80-$200. Junior tennis lessons hosted out of CopperWynd are perfect for young players, with classes available at Golden Eagle Park for adult beginners, intermediate and advanced players, too.

Whether you’re learning the basics or sharpening you skills, there’s a tennis class made available through the fall.

Skip Dem’ Hills

Skip Dem’ Hills is a jump rope boot camp for those ages 16 and up.

This special activity will be held on Thursdays from Sept. 15 to Oct. 27, 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. at Peaks Athletic Club.

The cost is $65 for all six sessions.

This course focuses on using a jump rope as a workout tool to condition the body while strengthening and improving cardiovascular endurance.

Punt, Pass, Kick

Punt, Pass and Kick is coming back to town for boys and girls ages six through 15. Age determined as of Dec. 31, 2016.

This event, which will test participants’ skills in three football disciplines, will be held Thursday, Sept. 15, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Four Peaks Park north field.

Register on-site beginning at 6 p.m. or pre-register at nflppk.com.

Participants will be required to complete an entry form.

Skyline

Skyline Athletes has partnered with Fountain Hills to offer various sports programs. All classes will be held at the Community Center.

Soccer will be held on Tuesdays from Sept. 6 to Oct. 11, 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Cost is $55.

Basketball will be held on Wednesdays from Sept. 7 to Oct. 12, 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Cost is $55.

The age range for these classes that focus on the fundamentals of the sports are three to five years old.

Parent-Tot multi-sport courses will be on Wednesdays from Sept. 14 to Oct. 12, 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. Cost is $45.

Parent-Tot soccer will be on Thursdays from Sept. 15 to Oct. 13, 10:30 to 11 a.m. Cost is $45.

These classes are intended for parents and their children who are 1.5 to three years of age.

Jr. Golf

Junior golf lessons are designed to introduce players to the rules, skills and techniques of golf. Courses will be hosted out of SunRidge Canyon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first session runs from Oct. 18-27 with the second session running from Nov. 8-17. Times are 4-5 p.m. and courses are intended for participants ages five to 13. Cost is $55 for either session.

Various Dance

A wide variety of dance classes are being offered for local youngsters during the fall.

These movement-focused courses include gymnastics, ballet, cheer dance, hip hop and a combination hip hop/gymnastics course. Each course is hosted separately and each is offered in two sessions between September and November. All classes are $60 a piece for a full session.

Open Gym

An open gym is being offered on Friday, Sept. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. All ages are welcome to participate for $5.

Kids are invited to hang with friends, play various sports and just have fun.

Archery

Archery classes are back by popular demand. Classes will be held Tuesdays in two sessions, one running from Sept. 6 to Oct. 11 and the second running from Oct. 18 to Nov. 22. Either session is $60 for all classes, which run from 6 to 8 p.m. Classes are open to those eight years and older, including adults.

Archery classes will be hosted out of Golden Eagle Park, Field 1. Participants will learn all about archery, from proper technique to firing at a target.
