The Citizens’ Academy course, in its fourth year, will provide everyday citizens with the knowledge about the Town of Fountain Hills and its operations.
Classes will be held Wednesday evenings, Jan. 29 to March 12, from 6-8 p.m., at the Fountain Hills Community Center.

A citizens’ academy for residents interested in learning more about their local government will be starting later this month.
The Citizens’ Academy course, in its fourth year, will provide everyday citizens with the knowledge about the Town of Fountain Hills and its operations.
Classes will be held Wednesday evenings, Jan. 29 to March 12, from 6-8 p.m., at the Fountain Hills Community Center.
This informative course led by town staff will be offered to Fountain Hills residents at no charge. On completion of this course, you will receive a Citizen’s Certificate and the knowledge of government to help Fountain Hills and its growth in the years to come.
The topics and presenters for each date are as follows:
*Jan. 29: The Mechanics of Local Government presented by Town Manager Ken Buchanan.
*Feb. 5: Town Attorney Andrew McGuire and Town Clerk Bev Bender discuss their duties and roles.
*Feb. 12: Town Finance, Economic Development and Tourism discussion led by Julie Ghetti, Scott Cooper and Bryan Hughes.
*Feb. 19: Community Services with Director Mark Mayer and staff.
*Feb. 26: Development Services discussion with Director Paul Mood and staff.
*March 5: Public Safety and The Court with Rural/Metro Fire Chief Randy Roberts, Captain Joe Rodriquez (MCSO) and staff.
*March 12: Fountain Hills School District/Mayor and Town Council with School District Superintendent Tom Lawrence (FHUSD), Mayor Linda Kavanagh and Town Manager Ken Buchanan.
Participants can register at Town Hall, Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; at the Community Center, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; or online at www.fh.az.gov.recreation; Course #786. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Jan. 22.
