Town Talk

On Tuesday, Feb. 13, I attended mayoral candidate Ginny Dickey’s Town Talk discussion at the Community Center. Her discussion centered around her mayoral campaign and the primary property tax up for a “yes” or “no” vote on May 15.

It is clear to me Ginny has had a longstanding commitment to our town and its needs, and she has already put her commitment into action with her 16 years of elected experience here in Fountain Hills.

Ginny discussed the “development at all cost” mentality that has dominated our town council over the past several years. Ginny knows this mentality is the exact opposite of the direction spelled out by the Strategic Plan and VisionFH and, as mayor, she will re-focus this over-development mentality toward our town’s immediate needs.

Once the primary property tax has passed, Ginny is advocating for a citizen’s oversight committee to guarantee that all spending addresses the maintenance of our community’s infrastructure; namely, our roads, our parks, our public buildings and our famous Fountain. Our town’s treasures will be Ginny’s priorities.

I trust in Ginny’s pledge that she will focus on being inclusive and transparent. She guaranteed us that she will work for public participation at the council, and she will insist that all the opinions of residents will be respected and their needs be put first.

Ginny is a focused and inspirational leader, and it is important for all town residents to hear Ginny’s vision for the future of Fountain Hills. I encourage residents to attend Ginny Dickey’s next Town Talk meeting on March 13 at the Community Center at 6:30 p.m. Ginny Dickey has my vote for mayor and I urge all residents here in Fountain Hills to vote for Ginny, as well.
