Track hosts home meet Monday, April 2

The Fountain Hills High School track team had a meet last Wednesday, March 21, with many of the team members placing high in their events.

The track meet brought together four schools including Fountain Hills, Norte Dame, Paradise Valley and Arcadia.

Head coach Todd Brecto said he is pleased with the progress the team is making.

Track hosts home meet Monday, April 2

The Fountain Hills High School track team had a meet last Wednesday, March 21, with many of the team members placing high in their events.

The track meet brought together four schools including Fountain Hills, Norte Dame, Paradise Valley and Arcadia.

Head coach Todd Brecto said he is pleased with the progress the team is making.

“We are continuing to get stronger each week and are right on track with our goals,” said Brecto.

FHHS’ next track meet will be home at Fountain Hills High School. It is on Monday, April 2, at 3 p.m.

Boys

In the pole vault event, Sam Aker vaulted to first place clearing a distance of 12’.

That is not the only event that Aker placed in. In the 100m dash Larkin Lipps placed third with a time of 11.84, Ahmed Momoh took fifth with 12.01 and Aker nabbed sixth, clocking in at 12.23.

Lipps and Momoh placed fourth and sixth respectively in the 200m dash with times of 24.38 and 24.48. In the 800m, Lucas Elwood placed second. Elwood also placed second in the mile.

For the 300m hurdles, FHHS took fourth, fifth and sixth places with runners Miles Collier, Darrien Smith and Mason Mogler crossing in that order.

In the shot put event, Mattahias Blaes threw 36’6” to get second place. Brent Ralph placed fourth with a throw of 36’8” and Kade Kirkham got ninth with a throw of 31’4”.

David Gonzales obtained third in the high jump and second in the triple jump. Miles Collier placed fifth in the triple jump.

Girls

The girls track team also claimed the gold in pole vault with Madison George clearing a height of 11’.

George also went on to place second in the high jump at a height of 4’10”.

Alania Olmstead placed second in both the 100m and the 400m events.

Stephanie Lies and Lauren Schultz placed second and third in both the shot put and discus events.

Amara Feyrer-Melk took first in the triple jump and second in the long jump.
