Trail maintenance, construction underway in Fountain Hills

Volunteers head into the hills

Members of the volunteer Trailblazers group for the Sonoran Conservancy of Fountain Hills have begun a new season of working on trails in the Fountain Hills McDowell Mountain Preserve.

Trailblazers lead Bill Craig said the weather was cooperative the past two weekends as up to two dozen of the Trailblazers headed to work on maintenance and begin construction on a new trail.

Teams handled maintenance on the newest trail, the North Leg trail, as well as on the Lower Ridgeline Trail. A relatively monsoon-free summer left the trails in good condition to start the new hiking season as the weather cools.
