Fountain Hills town council has adopted a new ordinance outlining responsibilities related to trees on or adjacent to public property and rights of way.
Community Services Director Kevin Snipes told the council that the town has had no formal ordinance that defines responsibilities and standards for the care, maintenance and oversight of trees located in public spaces such as town-maintained rights of way, medians and parks.
“This ordinance creates a structured approach to managing tree-related risks, reducing long-term maintenance costs and minimizing potential liability to the town,” Snipes said.
