On Oct. 24, they will celebrate 70 years of marriage. They were among the couples honored by Fountain View Village at a June 14 luncheon to celebrate 50-plus years of love and devotion.

Howard shared details of their first date. He took Millie to a restaurant where admitted that they had too many sazeracs, whiskey cocktails, and then took her home by street car.

Dr. Howard Linville was attracted to a red-headed medical technician named Millie while interning at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO.

On Oct. 24, they will celebrate 70 years of marriage. They were among the couples honored by Fountain View Village at a June 14 luncheon to celebrate 50-plus years of love and devotion.

Howard shared details of their first date. He took Millie to a restaurant where admitted that they had too many sazeracs, whiskey cocktails, and then took her home by street car.

Their biggest accomplishments are three daughters, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Many have followed Howard’s footsteps into medical professions.

They have lived in Fountain View Village for four years. He walks at least one mile daily. They enjoy dancing at the Happy Hours to their favorite song, “Kansas City.”

The longest married couple living at Fountain View Village is Walter and Betty Martin. They will observe 71 years of marriage on Dec. 7.

Known as the high school sweethearts, a sculpture in Fountain Park, “Fred and Ginger”, was dedicated to them. They did not attend the anniversary party.

Thirty-five couples living in the senior complex have been married 65 or more years this year. Twelve have been or will be married 65 years or longer this year.

They include Matt and Barbara DiMaria, 69 years, May 28, 1949; Mike and Clara Kacvn, 69 years, Aug. 13, 1949; Alex and Mary Santorella, 69 years, Oct. 29, 1949; George and Bernice Herrold, 68 years, July 8, 1950; Jack and Faye Gridley, 68 years, Sept. 15, 1950; Dean and Gretchen Anderson, 66 years, Dec. 27, 1952; Ruth and Paul Jennings, 65 years, April 2, 1953; Liz and Dale Gegner, 65 years, July 22, 1953; Nelson and Alice Baumann, 65, Nov. 1, 1953, and Jerry and Marge Antunes, 65 years, Dec. 26, 1953.

Two couple--- George and Connie Wilen and Gus and Wilma Grannan --- share anniversaries on the same date and year, June 19, 1954. June was the most popular month for wedding. Also observing June anniversaries are Stan and Barbara Young, 59 years, June 21; Florence and Barry Oxman, 20 years, June 21, and Carl and Bonnie Dangremond, 59 years, June 28.
