The core reason for so many saying “no” to the proposed property tax is that most people don’t trust any politician or any government entity, be it federal, state or local.

The property tax would have a better chance of passing if those in the council who voted for the wayfinding signs, the lagoon study and the ugly, ill-conceived fountain park lights would fess up and immediately resign. That might instill at least some measure of trust.

If they don’t, and the proposal is defeated, they have only themselves to blame.
